School Resource Officer
In April 1997, the Village of Fowlerville Police Department and the Fowlerville Community School District implemented a School Resource Officer (SRO) position. The position has been in effect ever since and has become a vital part of the educational process. In September 2004, the Fowlerville Community Schools approved the addition of a canine partner for the SRO. This has been a vital component in helping to keep the school district drug free.
The SRO has an office on the school campus and works directly with school administrators to ensure a safe and orderly environment for all students, staff, and visitors. As a police representative in the schools, the SRO performs police-related duties and enforcement of criminal laws while assisting the administrative staff with non-criminal violations.
The SRO position is funded by the Village of Fowlerville Police Department, the Fowlerville Community School District, Conway Township, Handy Township, and Iosco Township.
